PSYCHOMETRIC TESTING

Psychometric tests aim to measure attributes like intelligence, aptitude and personality. They provide an employer a vivid insight into employee adjustability at workplace.
Psychometric tests can be used for a variety of purposes. Some of the most common uses are as follows:
• Selection and Recruitment of personnel – Tests can help recruiters and hiring managers to determine candidates who best fit a position. Personality and aptitude tests are some common types used in the testing situation. Some of the personality tests used are Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the California Personality Inventory (CPI-260). For aptitude assessment, Saville assessment is used to measure motives, talents, preferred culture and competency potential in one dynamic questionnaire. It is designed for use in both selection and development, transforming the assessment process. In addition to these tests, an interviewing technique (BEI) is used as a reliable tool in predicting an applicant’s future on- the- job performance. This also provides opportunities for HR departments to use standardized quantifiable assessment method for hiring personnel.
• Career progression - For freshers who are in search of the right career path, Holland’s Self Directed Search Inventory is used to uncover interests for making the correct career choice.
• Individual development and training – Psychometric tests can help one determine how best to improve current skills and performance at work. Attitude tests are helpful in assessing people on their interests and motivational levels.
• Aptitude testing for students - The Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) is a valid and reliable assessment tool for course and career selection. It measures students' abilities in verbal reasoning, language usage, numerical reasoning, mechanical reasoning, and space relations. The Counselor's Report, available from combined administration of DAT and the Career Interest Inventory, provides an effective starting point for the students. It can be used for students from grades 8 through 12 as well as adults.
